Mark Siurek, the managing partner of Warren & Siurek, L.L.P., has been honored by his peers every year beginning in 2005 through their selection of Mr. Siurek as a Texas super lawyer. In 2008, Mr. Siurek was recognized as one of Houston's top lawyers by H Texas magazine. He concentrates his practice in labor and employment litigation, including claims involving unpaid or underpaid overtime wages, executive compensation, employment contracts, severance benefits, discrimination, wrongful discharge, wage and hour claims, unpaid commissions, whistleblower/Qui Tam claims, restrictive covenants, and trade secret issues. He also maintains a significant arbitration practice in most of these areas.

Mr. Siurek also counsels and represents the firm's clients in the negotiation of executive employment agreements, employee partnerships, employee buy-ins and equity sales, resolution of benefits disputes, and advice concerning deferred compensation/stock issues.

Mr. Siurek received his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center is 1987 where he was an Associate Editor of the Houston Law Review and a member of the Order of the Barons. He is admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and is also a member of the State Bar of Texas, Houston Bar Association and a Certified Alternative Dispute Resolution Moderator. Mr. Siurek has practiced law in Houston, Texas, for over twenty (20) years in nearly all aspects of labor and employment litigation and has extensive trial and arbitration experience. The following examples represent verdicts/arbitration awards and settlements recently obtained by Mr. Siurek on behalf of firm clients through trial, mediation and/or arbitration:


a. $4,100,000 verdict - fraudulent inducement of an executive employment contract claim by a former senior executive;
b. $950,000 settlement - pregnancy discrimination claim by a highly specialized physician;
c. $550,000 verdict - age discrimination claim;
d. $1,750,000 verdict - worker's compensation retaliation claim;
e. $300,000 arbitration award - unpaid commissions to a former account executive; and
f. $720,000 settlement - multi-party age discrimination claim.

Patricia Haylon is of counsel to the firm and she also concentrates her practice in employment and labor litigation. She received her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 1991. She is admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas and is also a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Houston Bar Association. Ms. Haylon joined the firm in 2002.

Douglas Welmaker is of counsel to the firm. Mr. Welmaker concentrates his practice in employment and labor litigation with emphasis in unpaid overtime cases. Mr. Welmaker received his J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 1993, where he was an Assistant Editor of the South Texas Law Review. Susan M. Diedrich, certified legal assistant, graduated from Texas Paralegal School in August, 1987, and was nationally certified as a legal assistant by the American Bar Association in 1988. Ms. Diedrich has been with the firm of Warren & Siurek, L.L.P., since 1992.
